Purpose of Job
The Hygiene Operative plays a vital role in maintaining exceptional cleanliness across our common areas. This position is key to upholding our facility's rigorous hygiene standards
Job Description
General Cleaning Duties:
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of all common areas, including changing rooms for each production department.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, tidy, and free from contamination in line with food safety regulations.
- Clean and sanitize tools and equipment used in the process, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards.
Adherence to Hygiene Standards:
- Follow cleaning schedules as outlined by the Senior Technical Manager/ Assistant Technical Manager, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to the highest standard.
- Use approved cleaning chemicals and materials safely and efficiently, following instructions and safety protocols.
- Ensure that personal hygiene and housekeeping practices meet the company’s stringent hygiene and safety standards
Waste Management:
- Safely dispose of waste materials according to company procedures, including the segregation of recyclable materials.
- Ensure waste bins are regularly emptied and cleaned to prevent contamination or odour.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and correct handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Report any safety hazards or issues immediately to the Senior Technical Manager.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, as well as that of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions.
- Promptly report any hazards, unsafe practices, incidents, or near misses to your line manager or the Health & Safety team.
- Cooperate with management on all matters relating to health and safety, including attending mandatory training and following issued guidance or instructions.
- Use equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and as instructed to minimise risk.
- Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the identification and control of workplace hazards.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety by actively engaging in health and safety initiatives and suggestions.

Job Requirements
Essentials
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a food manufacturing or industrial cleaning environment.
- Experience with cleaning equipment and chemicals
- Ability to follow cleaning schedules and instructions.
- Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a food production environment (changing rooms).
